The Security Associate plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment on campus by actively monitoring safety operations, responding to emergencies, and ensuring vigilance through surveillance and reporting. This position requires a strong commitment to integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality while performing all security-related duties. The Security Associate supports the enforcement of campus policies and collaborates with various departments to promote a secure and orderly atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

Campus Safety & Security Monitoring: Maintain a visible presence across assigned areas to uphold safety and compliance with campus security policies. Monitor CCTV and access control systems, promptly report suspicious activities, and coordinate with the control room for timely responses. Assist in enforcing campus entry and exit procedures, parking regulations, and visitor management protocols.

Emergency Preparedness & Response: Respond swiftly to emergencies such as fire, medical, or security incidents, ensuring that all safety measures are effectively implemented. Participate in evacuation drills and emergency exercises, and assist with follow-up investigations. Coordinate with rescue services, law enforcement, and internal departments during emergency situations.

Operational Accountability: Keep accurate logs, reports, and incident records following prescribed formats. Maintain accountability in duty performance, attendance, and handling of security equipment including radios, keys, and surveillance tools. Report any malfunctioning equipment or security system issues to supervisors immediately.

Operational Support and Liaison: Provide assistance to faculty, staff, students, and visitors in line with campus safety procedures. Support departmental events, VIP movements, and student activities by coordinating and managing crowds as necessary. Liaise with relevant departments to ensure smooth operations and adherence to safety standards.

Confidentiality & Privacy: Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all campus security operations, incidents, and sensitive information. Protect personal and institutional data in all aspects of the role.

Safety, Security, and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to identify and prevent security breaches. Assist in surveillance and control of restricted zones. Support lost-and-found management by ensuring items are properly recorded and handled according to standard procedures.

Travel/Work Schedule: The role may require occasional travel. Standard business hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility needed for evenings and weekends to accommodate workload and event schedules.

Required Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an HEC-recognized university is preferred. Candidates should have 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in a security or safety role, ideally within an educational or corporate setting.

Knowledge & Skills

Candidates must demonstrate strong observation and reporting skills, familiarity with security systems such as CCTV and access control systems, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations is essential. A high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discipline is required.
