Purchase Head – FMCG / Retail

We are seeking a seasoned Purchase Head to oversee the procurement function within our retail/FMCG operations. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in large-scale supermarkets, Cash & Carry, or FMCG retail environments. This role demands strong expertise in buying, supplier management, negotiation, margin optimization, rebates, and inventory planning to ensure efficient and cost-effective purchasing processes.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall FMCG and retail purchasing and procurement operations.
- Manage category-wise buying across Grocery, Beverages, Dairy, Frozen Foods, Non-Food items, Personal Care, Household, and Fresh categories.
- Negotiate purchase prices, margins, rebates, discounts, payment terms, and commercial agreements with suppliers.
- Identify and develop new suppliers, brands, and product lines to enhance the product portfolio.
- Conduct regular market surveys and competitor price analysis to stay competitive.
- Ensure consistent product availability while minimizing out-of-stock situations.
- Monitor stock aging, slow-moving and dead stock, best-before dates (BBD), and seasonal inventory fluctuations.
- Analyze sales data, purchase prices, margins, stock levels, and inventory turnover to optimize procurement decisions.
- Manage supplier claims, rebates, discounts, returns, and commercial settlements efficiently.
- Coordinate closely with Accounts, Warehouse, Store, Audit, and Operations teams to streamline processes.
- Monitor supplier performance, deliveries, shortages, and discrepancies to maintain high service levels.
- Prepare weekly and monthly purchase and commercial performance reports for management review.
- Lead and manage the Purchase/Buying team, ensuring clear category-wise accountability and performance.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Commerce, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in FMCG, retail, or Cash & Carry purchasing roles.
- Strong preference for candidates with experience in large-scale retail organizations such as Metro, Al-Fatah, Imtiaz, Carrefour, Naheed, Chase Up, or similar.
- In-depth knowledge of retail buying, category management, margin optimization, rebates, and supplier negotiations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP or other procurement software systems.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Candidates with a proven track record in large-scale supermarket or Cash & Carry procurement, strong supplier networks, and experience managing high-volume retail purchasing and commercial operations will be highly preferred. The role offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs 19,866.98 to Rs 200,985.29. This is an in-person position, requiring the candidate to work on-site.
