QA Automation Engineer | Banking & FinTech

Nevka Systems is seeking an experienced QA Automation Engineer to join our team and contribute to testing cutting-edge banking and fintech software. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and executing comprehensive testing across web applications, APIs, and complex financial workflows. You will develop automated test suites to ensure consistent coverage and collaborate closely with product and engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in banking, payments, or fintech domains and be adept at investigating defects that impact transactions, balances, and customer records.

Key Responsibilities

- Review business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to identify gaps and clarify expected outcomes with product and engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain detailed test plans, test cases, test data, and traceability matrices for new features and software releases.
- Design, build, and sustain automated UI and API tests using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress, leveraging programming languages like JavaScript, Java, or Python.
- Conduct thorough testing of REST APIs, focusing on authentication, permissions, data validation, error handling, retries, idempotency, and webhook behavior.
- Validate end-to-end financial processes including onboarding and KYC, account or wallet funding, beneficiary setup, transfers, fees and foreign exchange, refunds, transaction status, statements, and reconciliation.
- Utilize SQL and database queries to verify transaction records, balances, statuses, and audit trails against expected results.
- Execute functional, integration, smoke, regression, and user acceptance testing across multiple browsers, devices, and environments.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines, document defects clearly in Jira, and collaborate with developers to reproduce and resolve issues efficiently.
- Communicate test progress, risks, and release findings to stakeholders, maintaining comprehensive test evidence for review when necessary.

Required Qualifications

- Proven professional experience in software quality assurance, specifically involving banking, payments, or fintech products.
- Hands-on experience creating and maintaining automated tests for web applications and APIs.
- Proficiency in at least one automation programming language such as JavaScript, Java, or Python.
- Experience testing REST APIs using tools like Postman, Newman, or REST Assured.
- Ability to write and execute SQL queries to analyze data within relational databases.
- Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, defect lifecycle, test environments, version control systems, and basic CI/CD concepts.
- Strong written communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, analysts, developers, and fellow testers.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Experience

- Familiarity with financial workflows where transaction status, fees, balances, and records must remain accurate and consistent. Experience with digital banking, remittance, payment processing, wallets, ledgers, foreign exchange, settlement, or reconciliation is highly valuable.
- Knowledge of KYC and compliance-related workflows is advantageous.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or k6.
- Basic understanding of security testing principles, including awareness of OWASP guidelines and protection of sensitive personal or financial data.
- Experience testing integrations with external providers for banking, identity verification, payment processing, or notifications.
