QA / Software Test Engineer (Mobile & Web)

We are seeking a skilled Software Test Engineer with extensive hands-on experience in testing both mobile applications (iOS and Android) and web applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Playwright for test automation and be adept at leveraging AI tools to enhance testing efficiency. This role requires full ownership of product quality, driving a culture focused on speed, accuracy, and accountability within the QA team.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans and test cases for web and mobile platforms.
- Conduct various testing types including functional, regression, integration, smoke, and end-to-end testing.
- Build and maintain automated test suites using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Perform manual and automated testing on native and hybrid mobile apps across real devices, emulators, and simulators.
- Identify, document, and track defects using tools like JIRA, ensuring clear reproduction steps and proper severity classification.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers to ensure requirements are testable.
- Conduct cross-browser and cross-device compatibility testing.
- Participate in API testing using tools such as Postman or automated frameworks for REST and GraphQL endpoints.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines including GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
- Perform basic performance, load, and security testing as required.
- Contribute to test strategy, test data management, and continuous QA process improvements.
- Mentor junior QA team members and promote best quality practices across the team.
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned features, proactively identifying risks and coverage gaps before release.
- Maintain the stability and reliability of the Playwright automation suite, promptly addressing flaky or broken tests.
- Analyze root causes of defects missed during testing and improve coverage and processes accordingly.
- Make independent decisions on test scope and prioritization under tight timelines, communicating trade-offs clearly to stakeholders.
- Provide transparent and timely updates on testing progress, blockers, and release readiness to leadership.
- Continuously identify and resolve inefficiencies in QA tooling, documentation, and workflows.
- Foster a strong quality culture and support junior team members in overcoming challenges.

AI Usage (Mandatory):
Proficiency in AI tools is essential to accelerate testing workflows. This includes using AI coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude to generate, refactor, and debug Playwright scripts. Candidates will leverage AI to auto-generate test cases from requirements, identify edge cases, assist in test data creation, analyze logs, and perform root-cause triage. AI-powered visual testing and anomaly detection tools should be employed where applicable. Additionally, AI will be used to streamline bug reporting, documentation, and test plan creation. Candidates must critically review AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy and maintain ownership of quality. A willingness to adopt new AI-driven QA tools and continuously explore their application is required.

Required Qualifications:
- 4 to 6 years of experience in software testing or QA roles.
- Strong hands-on experience testing mobile applications on Android and iOS using real devices, emulators, and tools such as Appium, BrowserStack, or Firebase Test Lab.
- Proven expertise in web application testing across multiple browsers and devices.
- Demonstrated experience with Playwright automation using JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate test creation, debugging, or documentation.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies including functional, regression, smoke, sanity, UAT, and exploratory testing.
- Experience with API testing tools like Postman or REST Assured.
- Familiarity with bug tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems like Git.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership, and collaborate effectively in Agile/Scrum teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with additional automation frameworks such as Appium, Cypress, or Selenium.
- Basic programming or scripting skills in JavaScript/TypeScript or Python.
- Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter or k6.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing standards (WCAG).
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
- Experience testing Flutter or React Native mobile applications.
- Experience building AI-assisted or self-healing test automation frameworks.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
