Bureau Veritas is seeking a dedicated QA/QC Engineer - Civil to join our team in Karachi. This permanent role offers the opportunity to contribute to quality assurance, health and safety, risk mitigation, and environmental protection within building and infrastructure projects, particularly focusing on Tank Farm Facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections of equipment, products, and installations to verify conformity with specifications, drawings, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- Witness and supervise testing of construction materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt, and soil.
- Conduct field inspections including formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete curing, and compaction.
- Verify material certifications and mill test reports to ensure compliance.
- Monitor construction activities to confirm adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Identify non-conformities and issue corrective action requests (CARs).
- Oversee critical operations including concrete pours, welding, pile driving, and compaction processes.
- Perform dimensional checks and verify tolerances.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs, test reports, and photographic documentation.
- Prepare daily and weekly quality reports for project management and coordinate with clients.
- Ensure inspections are executed according to predefined procedures and contractual requirements.
- Manage and mentor junior inspectors as needed.
- Promote Bureau Veritas services and maintain effective communication internally and with clients.
- Comply with all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including the authority to stop unsafe work and participate in incident reporting and investigations.
- Maintain personal work areas hazard-free and report any deviations or hazards promptly.
- Participate actively in knowledge sharing, continual professional development, and contribute to improving HSE practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering quality control and inspection, preferably in infrastructure and tank farm facilities.
- Strong understanding of international standards and codes such as ISO 9001, ASTM, and ACI.
- Training or certification in Quality Management Systems, ISO 9001 Internal Audit, and ACI certification is highly desirable.
- Proficient in interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
- Skilled in developing and implementing Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) aligned with project specifications.
- Excellent knowledge of inspection techniques and ability to select appropriate methods based on project needs.
- Competent in reviewing and appraising inspection procedures and writing comprehensive reports.
- Familiarity with contractual requirements and Bureau Veritas intervention definitions.
- Strong communication skills to maintain client relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Commitment to safety, with a clear understanding of HSE responsibilities and procedures.
