Bureau Veritas is seeking a dedicated QA/QC Engineer - Civil to join our team in Karachi. This role focuses on ensuring the quality and compliance of building and infrastructure works, particularly for Tank Farm Facilities. The successful candidate will play a vital role in verifying that all construction activities meet specified standards, regulations, and project requirements. Reporting to the Operations Manager or Team Leader, the engineer will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility while supporting continuous improvement and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct quality inspections and surveys of equipment, products, and installations to verify conformity with specifications, drawings, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
- Witness and supervise testing of construction materials such as concrete, steel, aggregates, asphalt, and soil.
- Verify field inspections including formwork, reinforcement placement, concrete curing, and compaction.
- Review material certifications and mill test reports to ensure compliance.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to project plans and specifications.
- Identify non-conformances and issue corrective action requests (CARs).
- Oversee critical operations such as concrete pours, welding, pile driving, and compaction.
- Perform dimensional checks and verify tolerances.
- Maintain detailed inspection logs, test reports, and photographic documentation.
- Prepare daily and weekly quality reports for project management and coordinate with clients.
- Ensure inspections are performed according to Bureau Veritas quality systems and contractual requirements.
- Manage and mentor junior inspectors as needed.
- Promote Bureau Veritas services to clients and maintain effective internal and external communication.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including the authority to stop unsafe work and reporting all incidents or hazards.
- Participate actively in knowledge sharing, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in civil engineering quality assurance and control.
- Specialized expertise in inspection of buildings and infrastructure, especially Tank Farm Facilities.
- Strong knowledge of international standards and codes such as ISO 9001, ASTM, and ACI.
- Training or certification in ISO 9001 Internal Audit, Quality Management Systems, and ACI certification is highly desirable.
- Proficient in interpreting architectural and structural drawings.
- Skilled in developing and implementing Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) aligned with project specifications.
- Familiarity with inspection techniques and ability to select appropriate methods.
- Competent in reviewing inspection procedures and writing detailed reports.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and lead junior inspectors effectively.
