Nutrition Officer

A Nutrition Officer develops, implements, and monitors public health initiatives aimed at reducing malnutrition, particularly for children and pregnant women. The nutrition officer works closely with health and nutrition teams, community health workers, and local stakeholders to promote optimal breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices through education, counselling, and capacity building. Work with the Project Manager to contribute to the screening system at community level. To counsel all patients for further follow ups. Provide one-on-one and group counseling to mothers and caregivers on breastfeeding and complementary feeding. Promote exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months and appropriate complementary feeding thereafter. Assist the Project Manager with technical support in convening sessions and answering questions on topics relevant to the project.

This recruitment aims to establish an Emergency/Humanitarian Response Roster. Candidates who meet the eligibility and position requirements will be considered for inclusion in roster for future opportunities, subject to organizational needs and funding availability. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee employment.

Candidates should be available to join at short notice and be willing to work anywhere in KPK, including remote and underserved areas, as required by the project. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Support the strengthening and facilitation of mother support groups.
Ensure that all project materials are well maintained. And ensure that protocols are strictly followed and implemented.
Make sure reports are accurate and complete. Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned.
Perform appropriate assessments of SAM/MAM, PLWs needs and malpractices and do analysis and come up with clear recommendations.
Train LHWs, community volunteers, and peer counsellors on best practices on practices. And perform any other field duties with the team whenever required.
Ensure access to nutritional supplies as per the screening
Community Health Strengthening
Support community-based health initiatives through behavior change communication (SBCC) strategies.
Build capacity of community groups (women, adolescents, caregivers) to promote health-seeking behaviors and service utilization.
Strengthen referral linkages between community and health facilities.
Quality Assurance & Supportive Supervision
Conduct regular field visits to monitor training effectiveness and provide on-the-job coaching.
Ensure adherence to clinical standards, protocols, and quality-of-care benchmarks.
Support continuous improvement through feedback and learning mechanisms.
Safeguarding & Accountability
Integrate Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), Child Protection (CP), and safeguarding principles into all training activities.
Promote awareness of Complaint and Response Mechanisms (CRM) among staff and communities.
Coordination & Collaboration
Liaise with government health departments, and implementing partners to ensure alignment with national health strategies.
Participate in coordination forums and contribute to integrated programme planning.
Monitoring, Reporting & Learning
Track training outputs and outcomes, maintain records, and prepare regular reports.
Contribute to programme learning, documentation of best practices, and adaptive planning.

Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in public health. Nutrition, or any other relevant discipline.
Professional certification are desirable e.g.
Nutrition related certification.
Atleast 3 years experience of relevant experience in health/Nutrition programme implementation and training, preferably in humanitarian or resource-constrained settings.
Experience of working in a team of health and other professionals.
Strong knowledge of MNCH, nutrition, and community health systems.
Experience with SBCC approaches and capacity-building methodologies.
