Purpose of the Position:

Veterinary Officer will be responsible for the implementation of all livestock, fisheries, and poultry-related project activities as per the project design and plan. The veterinary officer will also be responsible to provide technical support in identifying beneficiaries and their relevant needs, compiling information of the training provided, strengthening the community’s capacities in livestock, poultry and fisheries management and liaising with the line department.

Major responsibilities

The veterinary Officer must have a strong background in animal & poultry husbandry in emergencies, designing and delivering training sessions. S/he will be responsible for the daily management and execution of QC’s livestock and poultry related interventions in district DG Khan. The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in emergency settings with a clear understanding of the context of southern Punjab. Furthermore, following are major responsibilities:

  • Provide overall technical expertise and management of all Veterinary-related activities (goat breed selection, distribution, training material, conduction trainings and awareness on disease treatment)
  • Engaging and building strong relationships with the line department and community
  • Design action plan and training modules on sustainable management of livestock and poultry.
  • Support in the development of a detailed implementation and monitoring plan and directly undertake regular monitoring to ensure that the activity related processes and objectives defined in the project proposals are being met.
  • Facilitate and provide training and guidance to the beneficiaries of goats & poultry on their rearing and getting the desired productions.
  • Support the project team in selection of the beneficiaries through surveys and analysis
  • Document field achievements and lessons learned to integrate into project activities and device strategy for the sustainability of the project.
  • Support in developing project reports on veterinary related activities, as needed.
  • Conduct regular field visit (70% of the time).
  • Work closely with other team members in the implementation of project activities
  • Staff capacity building: Oversee capacity building of the mobilization team in livestock, poultry and fisheries management and sustainable practices.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
