We are seeking an experienced R&D Engineering Project Manager to oversee and coordinate a multidisciplinary team comprising mechanical and electrical design engineers, as well as workshop staff. This full-time, on-site role is based in Johar Town, Lahore, operating Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, with alternate Saturdays. The successful candidate will manage the entire product development cycle, from initial planning through prototyping, testing, and production handover. While a background in engineering design is helpful, the primary focus is on effective people and process management, ensuring projects progress smoothly by organizing teams, managing schedules, and allocating resources efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and manage multiple engineering and workshop projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring alignment with project goals and deadlines.
- Lead and coordinate a diverse team including mechanical and electrical design engineers, as well as workshop personnel skilled in fabrication, welding, fiberglass, woodworking, and assembly.
- Allocate tasks based on project priority, team capacity, and deadlines, while tracking progress against established milestones.
- Conduct regular project and status meetings to identify and remove blockers, holding the team accountable for quality, timelines, and deliverables.
- Schedule daily and weekly workshop activities in accordance with project priorities and available resources.
- Collaborate with procurement teams on requests for quotations (RFQs), purchase requirements, and vendor follow-ups, proactively identifying long lead items.
- Monitor material needs, prototype progress, and overall workshop productivity to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain organized project documentation, schedules, and status records, ensuring adherence to documentation and change control processes.
- Provide regular progress reports to management, highlighting risks, resource requirements, and any delays.
- Coordinate schedules and deliverables with procurement, production, and other engineering teams, escalating issues that may impact cost, quality, or delivery timelines.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing teams of engineers and workshop staff.
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary or technical teams through full project delivery cycles.
- Comfortable working alongside mechanical and electrical design engineers and workshop trades such as fabrication, welding, and assembly without directly performing design tasks.

Leadership and Professional Competencies

- Strong skills in task delegation, coaching, and team management.
- Excellent project planning, prioritization, risk management, and deadline adherence.
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication, with the ability to coordinate across multiple functions.
- High level of ownership and accountability for team output, schedules, and project delivery.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D and prototyping environment.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a challenging and innovative setting, contributing directly to the successful development and delivery of engineering projects. Candidates who excel in managing diverse teams and complex workflows will find this position rewarding and impactful.
