Registered Midwife, Labor and Delivery

Aga Khan University Hospital, located in Karachi, Pakistan, is seeking a Registered Midwife to join its inpatient care team. Established in 1983, Aga Khan University (AKU) is Pakistan’s first private international university, with a distinguished Faculty of Health Sciences developed in collaboration with Harvard, McGill, and McMaster Universities. The Medical College and School of Nursing are situated alongside the Aga Khan University Hospital on an expansive 84-acre campus. The Registered Midwife will play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients with varying degrees of complexity, ensuring both safety and individualized attention.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, competent, and individualized nursing care to patients with care needs ranging from basic to complex.
- Deliver patient and family education to support understanding and engagement in care.
- Plan and conduct health teaching sessions tailored to the assessed learning needs of patients and their families.

Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Midwifery from an accredited School of Nursing and Midwifery.
- Valid license from the Pakistan Nursing Council.
- Competence in planning and delivering care to patients with a variety of complex care needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Willingness to work in shift duties to meet the demands of inpatient care.

Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of relevant work experience in midwifery or related nursing care is preferred.
