Turing, headquartered in San Francisco, California, is a global leader in accelerating frontier AI research and a trusted partner for enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. The company supports its clients by providing high-quality data, sophisticated training pipelines, and top AI researchers skilled in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agent technologies. Turing helps organizations transition AI from experimental stages into reliable, proprietary intelligence that delivers measurable business impact and lasting results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design original and challenging mathematics problems that push the reasoning capabilities of large language models, focusing on multi-step, abstract, and proof-based scenarios.
- Independently solve complex problems and produce detailed, logically structured solutions with clear justifications.
- Review AI-generated solutions to identify mathematical errors or gaps, providing precise feedback, annotations, and corrections.
- Contribute to the development of new evaluation benchmarks aligned with Mathematics curricula ranging from early undergraduate to PhD-level topics.
- Develop and validate Python-based solutions for computational tasks using approved scientific libraries.
- Work with theorem-prover tools such as Lean by translating mathematical problems and proofs into formal language and verifying the correctness of formal proofs.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations.
- Creative and lateral thinking capabilities to approach problems innovatively.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in structuring information clearly and collaborating effectively in a remote work environment.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with a reliable desktop or laptop and a stable internet connection.
- Solid foundation in mathematics, comparable to the level expected in engineering entrance exams and graduate or PhD-level programs.
- Ability to break down complex mathematical concepts into simple, clear explanations.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
Candidates pursuing or holding a Master’s, Ph.D., or Postdoctoral degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a structured and logical approach to solving complex mathematical problems and the ability to explain concepts clearly using simple language, visuals, and examples.
Freelancers at Turing enjoy the flexibility of working fully remotely while engaging with cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading large language model companies. There is potential for contract extensions based on individual performance and project requirements.
Offer Details:
The role requires a minimum commitment of 4 hours per day and at least 20 hours per week, with a mandatory 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST). Candidates may choose from three time commitment options: 20, 30, or 40 hours per week. This is a contractor/freelancer position without medical benefits or paid leave.
This opportunity is ideal for those looking to future-proof their careers by gaining hands-on experience in AI-driven mathematical research and analysis within a dynamic, remote-first environment.
