Turing, headquartered in San Francisco, California, is a leading research accelerator for frontier AI laboratories and a trusted partner for global enterprises deploying advanced AI systems. The company supports its customers by accelerating cutting-edge research through high-quality data, advanced training pipelines, and top AI researchers specializing in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents. Additionally, Turing helps enterprises transform AI from proof of concept into proprietary intelligence, delivering reliable systems that create measurable impact and drive lasting results on the bottom line.

In this role, you will contribute to projects focused on fine-tuning large language models, such as ChatGPT, by leveraging your strong analytical skills and English comprehension. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Physics, comparable to the level expected in engineering entrance exams and advanced graduate or PhD programs. You will be responsible for breaking down complex Physics concepts into clear, simple explanations while working efficiently. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance your analytical capabilities by integrating AI tools, helping you future-proof your career in an AI-driven world.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and solve challenging Physics problems aimed at testing the limitations of large language models.
- Develop clear, high-quality, step-by-step solutions with well-articulated reasoning.
- Collaborate closely with LLM researchers to ensure problems align with evaluation goals, particularly in areas where models often struggle, such as abstraction, multi-step reasoning, and symbolic manipulation.
- Assist in defining new evaluation benchmarks based on Physics curricula ranging from early undergraduate to PhD-level topics.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to approach problems methodically.
- Capability to provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations.
- Creative and lateral thinking skills to develop innovative problem-solving approaches.
- Excellent structured communication and collaboration skills, especially in a remote work environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Access to a desktop or laptop with a reliable internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
Candidates currently pursuing a Ph.D. or postdoctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or a related discipline are encouraged to apply. The ability to analyze and solve complex physics problems using a structured, logical approach is highly valued. Additionally, candidates should be adept at explaining physics concepts clearly using simple language, visuals, and sound physics reasoning.

This freelance opportunity offers the flexibility of working fully remotely while engaging with cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading large language model companies. There is potential for contract extension based on performance and project requirements. Please note that this is a contractor assignment with no medical benefits or paid leave.

This role is ideal for individuals seeking to apply their physics expertise in the AI domain while working in a dynamic, innovative environment that fosters professional growth and skill development.
