Turing, headquartered in San Francisco, California, is a global leader in accelerating frontier AI research and a trusted partner for enterprises implementing advanced AI systems. The company supports its clients by providing high-quality data, sophisticated training pipelines, and expert AI researchers specializing in coding, reasoning, STEM, multilinguality, multimodality, and agents. Additionally, Turing helps enterprises move beyond AI proofs of concept to develop proprietary intelligence systems that deliver reliable performance, measurable impact, and sustained business results.

In this role, you will contribute to fine-tuning large language models such as ChatGPT by leveraging your strong analytical skills and proficiency in English comprehension. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in Physics, comparable to the level expected in engineering entrance exams and graduate or PhD-level programs. You will be responsible for simplifying complex Physics concepts into clear, accessible explanations while working efficiently. This position also offers the opportunity to enhance your analytical capabilities by learning how to utilize AI tools effectively, helping you future-proof your career in an AI-driven world.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and solve challenging Physics problems aimed at testing the limitations of large language models.
- Develop clear, high-quality, step-by-step solutions with well-articulated reasoning.
- Collaborate closely with LLM researchers to ensure problems align with evaluation goals, particularly in areas where models face difficulties such as abstraction, multi-step reasoning, and symbolic manipulation.
- Assist in defining new evaluation benchmarks based on Physics curricula ranging from early undergraduate to PhD-level topics.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to approach problems methodically.
- Capability to provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations.
- Creative and lateral thinking skills to approach problems from multiple perspectives.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially in a remote work environment.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Access to a reliable desktop or laptop with a stable internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
Candidates currently pursuing a Ph.D. or postdoctoral degree in Physics, Applied Physics, or related fields are highly encouraged to apply. The ability to analyze and solve complex physics problems using a structured, logical approach is essential. Additionally, candidates should be adept at explaining physics concepts clearly, employing simple language, visuals, and sound physics reasoning.

Freelancers working with Turing enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote work environment and the chance to engage with cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading large language model companies. There is potential for contract extensions based on performance and project requirements.

Engagement Details:
This is a contractor/freelancer assignment and does not include medical benefits or paid leave.
