We are looking for a Senior Shopify Developer with over five years of experience, ideally with a background working for European or US-based companies. This part-time role is based in our Lahore office and requires a daily commitment of four hours, from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm, including a half-hour break. The successful candidate will possess strong full-stack development skills, capable of maintaining and enhancing high-performance Shopify stores. Responsibilities include integrating third-party services, optimizing site performance, and ensuring security and GDPR compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and optimize custom Shopify themes and applications to provide seamless user experiences. Integrate third-party services such as Stripe, PayPal, and various shipping APIs to improve store functionality. Ensure GDPR compliance and implement best practices for data security across all projects. Optimize website performance using caching strategies like Redis and CDNs. Collaborate closely with designers to implement clean, responsive UI/UX designs aligned with brand standards. Maintain version control with Git and follow established development best practices to ensure code quality and consistency.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of five years of professional development experience focused on Shopify or e-commerce platforms is essential. Proficiency with Shopify APIs (REST and GraphQL) for automation, integration, and data management is required. Expertise in the Liquid templating language for advanced theme customization and dynamic content creation is necessary. Experience in custom app development using Node.js, Ruby, Python, or PHP is expected. Strong knowledge of databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, or experience working with the Shopify Admin API, is important. A solid understanding of security and compliance requirements, including GDPR and secure coding practices, is mandatory. Proven ability to optimize performance using caching mechanisms like Redis and content delivery networks (CDNs) is required. Frontend skills should include HTML, CSS (SCSS), JavaScript (ES6+), and advanced Shopify theme customization with Liquid. Experience with frontend frameworks and libraries such as React, Vue, and Ajax to create dynamic elements like filtering and quick carts is highly valued. Candidates should be skilled in building modular, editable components using Shopify’s Theme Customizer and Sections. A strong focus on responsive design principles, ensuring mobile-first and cross-browser compatibility, is essential. Ability to implement UI/UX designs with attention to detail and optimize page speed through asset management, lazy loading, and minification is expected.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience working with clients or teams in EU or US markets is highly desirable. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment are important. A portfolio or code samples hosted on platforms such as GitHub or Bitbucket will be considered a significant advantage. The ability to work independently, manage time efficiently, and consistently deliver high-quality code is required. This part-time position requires approximately 20 hours per week, offering flexibility within the specified working hours. The role is based in-person at the Lahore office, providing an opportunity to engage directly with the team and projects.
