Aga Khan University’s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health is seeking a Research Associate to join its Outreach and Research Programme based in Jamshoro. This programme operates across ten community-based field sites in Pakistan and is dedicated to advancing women’s and child health through rigorous research. The department houses specialized Nutritional and Infectious Disease Research Laboratories and is recognized nationally and internationally for its impactful contributions. The Research Associate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of data collection and analysis, supporting systematic reviews, and aiding in the publication of research findings. The role involves working in challenging field environments and collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor field data collection processes to maintain accuracy and quality standards.
- Prepare weekly progress reports detailing ongoing research activities.
- Conduct thorough literature searches relevant to assigned research topics.
- Screen and assess articles for eligibility based on predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Systematically extract and analyze data from selected studies to support research objectives.
- Evaluate the quality of studies using established assessment tools and methodologies.
- Prepare comprehensive systematic review reports summarizing findings.
- Contribute to the development of manuscripts for submission to scientific journals.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and subject matter experts to ensure project success.
- Actively participate in regular team meetings to discuss progress and challenges.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support programme goals.
Required Qualifications:
- MBBS degree from a recognized institution.
- One to two years of relevant work experience, preferably involving clinical assessment of paediatric patients.
- Proven experience in conducting systematic reviews and familiarity with research methodologies.
- Proficiency in using reference management software and systematic review tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Urdu, and Sindhi.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging, field-based settings.
- Demonstrated people management skills, particularly in demanding environments.
