The Deputy Manager utilizes strong computer skills to oversee library automation systems, digital databases, and emerging technologies for online information services. Effective communication and problem-solving capabilities are essential to collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to meet diverse information needs. Additionally, this position supports collection development, information literacy programs, record management, and continuous service improvements, ensuring the alignment of library practices with evolving educational demands.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the university library including circulation, cataloguing, acquisition, and management of digital and print resources.
- Lead and supervise a team of 10 staff members to ensure smooth and efficient library service delivery.
- Implement and maintain international library standards and best practices to optimize library functions and user experience.
- Manage and upgrade library automation systems and digital databases to streamline information access and retrieval.
- Coordinate online information services and incorporate emerging technologies to enhance resource availability and accessibility.
- Collaborate with faculty, students, and staff to understand and fulfill academic and research information needs through effective communication and support.
- Support and contribute to collection development by evaluating and selecting relevant materials aligned with curriculum and research priorities.
- Design and facilitate information literacy programs to improve users research skills and familiarity with library resources.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare reports on library activities, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for library services.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, copyright regulations, and intellectual property standards related to library resources.
- Foster a user-friendly library environment that encourages engagement with digital and physical information resources.
