Ruby on Rails Developer

We are seeking a skilled Ruby on Rails Developer to join a dynamic team working remotely during U.S. business hours. This full-time role involves building, maintaining, and scaling modern web applications and APIs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails, backend systems, and relational databases, and will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. Flexibility is required for sprint reviews, deployments, and occasional on-call support.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain production Ruby on Rails applications, leveraging Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and manage background jobs using Sidekiq or Resque.
- Integrate third-party APIs and collaborate with frontend teams using React, Vue.js, or Stimulus.
- Design, optimize, and maintain PostgreSQL and/or MySQL databases, including migrations, indexing, caching, and query optimization to improve performance and scalability.
- Write and maintain comprehensive unit, integration, and system tests using RSpec, Minitest, and Capybara, ensuring strong automated test coverage.
- Enforce code quality standards using tools such as RuboCop and StandardRB, and support CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
- Implement security best practices including authentication and authorization with Devise or OmniAuth, CSRF protection, input validation, and compliance with standards like OWASP, GDPR, or HIPAA when applicable.
- Monitor application performance and reliability using tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Honeybadger, and Rollbar. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues promptly to maintain high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives, providing technical recommendations and maintaining clear documentation of APIs, codebases, and system architecture.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development.
- Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC design patterns.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL database management.
- Hands-on experience with background job frameworks such as Sidekiq or Resque.
- Proven ability to build and integrate RESTful APIs.
- Solid understanding of Git and version control workflows.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and software engineering best practices.
- Excellent debugging, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Availability to collaborate during U.S. client business hours.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
