Sales Associate (Retail)

Our client, Al Boom Marine (ABM), a leading omni-channel retailer and distributor established in 1987, is seeking a Sales Associate to join their team. With nearly four decades of experience in the leisure, lifestyle, and sports retail industry across the GCC and MENA region, ABM operates across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels. The company represents a diverse portfolio of world-class brands in divisions such as Apparel, Footwear & Accessories, Cycling, Consumer Electronics, Optical, and Sports. The Sales Associate will play a vital role in delivering exceptional in-store customer experiences while supporting sales targets and maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide warm and professional customer service by greeting customers, understanding their needs, and recommending suitable products.
- Deliver detailed product information, suggest alternatives, and engage in cross-selling or upselling to enhance customer satisfaction and sales.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the product range, ongoing promotions, and brand initiatives to assist customers effectively.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism, escalating issues to management when necessary.
- Consistently achieve and strive to exceed individual and store sales targets on daily, weekly, and monthly bases.
- Ensure merchandise is displayed and replenished according to visual merchandising standards to maintain an attractive store environment.
- Keep the store, including fitting rooms, clean, organized, and visually appealing at all times.
- Follow stock management procedures such as receiving deliveries, price tagging, and proper storage of products.
- Assist with periodic stock takes, inventory audits, and report any discrepancies promptly.
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently, processing transactions, returns, and exchanges accurately.
- Handle cash and card payments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in team meetings, sales huddles, and product knowledge sessions to stay aligned with store goals.
- Communicate operational challenges, customer feedback, or product-related issues to the Store Manager to support continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

- Previous experience in retail sales or customer service, preferably within premium retail, marine, sports, or lifestyle sectors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused approach.
- Confident and proactive in achieving sales targets and engaging customers.
- Ability to quickly learn and develop knowledge of marine and leisure products.
- Skilled at identifying customer needs and recommending appropriate products or alternatives.
- Basic familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and retail store operations.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and varied shifts as required.
- Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in additional languages such as Arabic or Russian is advantageous.
