Turing is a leading company specializing in AGI infrastructure, collaborating with cutting-edge AI laboratories to accelerate the development of advanced models. By providing high-quality training data, evaluations, and engineering expertise, Turing plays a pivotal role in advancing artificial intelligence capabilities. This opportunity is for a contractor position focused on Computational Life Sciences, where you will contribute to designing and validating complex scientific tasks for AI agents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design sophisticated and realistic scientific workflows within the life sciences domain that require multiple computational steps, moving beyond simple scripts or straightforward question-and-answer formats.
- Develop comprehensive input files, scientific datasets, detailed instructions, constraints, and clearly defined expected deliverables for AI agents.
- Create tasks that challenge AI agents to inspect data, select appropriate analytical methods, execute computational analyses, troubleshoot intermediate results, and synthesize final scientific conclusions.
- Produce reproducible expert solutions and establish objectively verifiable ground truths, alongside robust automated or semi-automated grading criteria to evaluate AI performance.
- Validate all scientific assumptions, calculations, code, intermediate outputs, and final answers, ensuring that tasks are fully self-contained and executable within controlled, network-isolated environments.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, or equivalent research background in life sciences, coupled with strong computational and scientific programming skills.
- Proficiency in scientific programming, particularly with Python.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting multi-step computational scientific analyses.
- Ability to independently verify both scientific reasoning and computational results.
- Expertise in at least one of the following areas: bioinformatics, computational genomics, systems biology, computational neuroscience, biostatistics, computational drug discovery, computational biochemistry, structural biology, protein engineering, or computational microbiology.
Engagement Details:
This is a contractor role requiring a commitment of at least 6 hours daily and a minimum of 40 hours per week, with a mandatory 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST). The contract duration is 5 weeks, with an expected start date in the upcoming week. Compensation is task-based, with payment of $300 per approved task. Please note that this is a contractor assignment without medical benefits or paid leave.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the frontier of AI-driven scientific research by creating tasks that rigorously evaluate AI’s ability to perform authentic, multi-step scientific workflows. If you have a strong computational life sciences background and are passionate about advancing AI capabilities in scientific domains, this position provides a challenging and rewarding environment to apply your expertise.
