We are seeking experienced Editors to join our Earth and Environmental Science team on a remote, contractual basis. This role offers regular work to help maintain a consistent schedule, with the possibility of contract renewal based on mutual agreement. Editors will play a crucial role in enhancing the clarity and quality of scientific manuscripts, ensuring they meet the highest academic standards and are ready for publication.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and edit scientific manuscripts to improve clarity, coherence, and readability while preserving the authors’ original intent.
- Verify that subject-specific terminology, conventions, and scientific arguments are accurate, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience.
- Enhance the presentation of complex research findings to facilitate effective communication and publication readiness.
- Ensure manuscripts adhere to job-specific guidelines and formatting requirements of the target journal, eliminating unclear, illogical, or unidiomatic sentences.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in one or more of the specialized subject areas listed below.
- Proven ability to critically evaluate scientific content and ensure discipline-specific accuracy.
- Excellent command of written English with strong attention to detail.
- Prior experience in scientific editing, peer review, or academic publishing is highly advantageous.
