We are seeking an experienced accounting professional with over four years of hands-on experience in preparing and completing accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VAT and tax return preparation, payroll compliance, and technical accounting. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple assignments efficiently within tight deadlines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams, including Practice Managers and Portfolio Managers, to ensure compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial assignments in an offshore technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned accounting jobs from initiation through to completion, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
- Prepare, review, and finalize accounts, VAT returns, tax returns, payroll compliance, and related assignments within agreed timelines.
- Monitor job progress closely and proactively address any potential delays or issues that could impact delivery.
- Liaise regularly with the Practice Manager to discuss workload, capacity, job status, and completion schedules.
- Provide consistent and accurate progress updates to Portfolio Managers, escalating any missing information or technical challenges promptly.
- Maintain clear, organized working papers and supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness and compliance.
- Ensure all chargeable work is completed promptly to support timely invoicing and minimize aged Work-in-Progress (WIP).
- Prioritize assignments based on workflow priorities set by the Practice Manager, balancing workload effectively.
- Identify and escalate any delays that may affect billing or cash flow to maintain financial health.
- Collaborate closely with Portfolio Managers to understand job requirements, priorities, and delivery expectations, providing technical support and timely responses to queries.
- Work alongside Junior and Trainee Accountants to facilitate efficient job completion and knowledge sharing.
- Support the Practice Manager in meeting operational and service delivery goals, maintaining high standards of technical quality and compliance.
- Contribute to the firm’s profitability through efficient assignment delivery, effective time utilization, and prompt completion of chargeable work.
- Meet agreed targets related to compliance, quality, productivity, utilization, and delivery consistently.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in accounting, with a proven track record in preparing and completing accounts.
- Strong experience in preparing and reviewing VAT returns, tax returns, and ensuring compliance with related regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll compliance and associated accounting requirements.
- Solid technical accounting and compliance expertise.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounting assignments within strict deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload effectively.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Ability to identify and escalate technical issues, missing information, and potential delays proactively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Experience working in an offshore technical environment is highly desirable.
