We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant / Client Manager with extensive expertise in UK taxation to manage a diverse portfolio of clients. The ideal candidate will ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations while delivering exceptional accounting, tax advisory, and financial reporting services. This role involves building strong client relationships, mentoring junior team members, and driving continuous improvements within the practice to enhance efficiency and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management:
Oversee a portfolio of UK-based clients by providing proactive accounting and tax advice tailored to their specific business needs. Serve as the primary point of contact, responding promptly and professionally to client inquiries. Develop a thorough understanding of each client’s operations and financial objectives to foster long-lasting relationships.
Accounting & Tax Compliance:
Prepare and review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns (CT600), VAT returns, and self-assessment tax returns, ensuring strict adherence to HMRC regulations and UK accounting standards such as FRS 102 and FRS 105. Provide tax planning advice by identifying allowable expenses and potential tax-saving opportunities. Keep abreast of changes in UK tax legislation and accounting practices to maintain compliance and offer informed guidance.
Payroll & Financial Reporting:
Manage payroll processing to ensure compliance with PAYE and National Insurance obligations. Assist clients with financial reporting, management accounts, and cash flow forecasting. Oversee pension schemes, auto-enrollment, and other employer-related responsibilities to ensure regulatory compliance.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants, reviewing their work to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. Lead initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency and automation, particularly through the implementation and use of cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
Required Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, ATT, or an equivalent UK accounting or tax qualification.
- Between 1.5 to 5 years of relevant experience in UK accounting and taxation.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, HMRC regulations, and UK tax compliance requirements.
- Proven track record in a client-facing role within an accounting practice.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
- Experience with TaxCalc and HMRC online portals.
- Advanced Excel skills, capable of preparing and analyzing complex financial models.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and UK employment tax regulations.

This is a full-time, in-person role with working hours from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The position offers a valuable opportunity to work closely with clients while contributing significantly to the growth and operational excellence of the accounting practice.
