We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with strong expertise in UK taxation to join our team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of UK-based clients, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations while delivering high-quality accounting, tax advisory, and financial reporting services. This role involves building and maintaining strong client relationships, providing proactive advice, and leading junior team members. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of UK accounting standards and tax laws, combined with excellent client management and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
Client Management:
Manage a portfolio of UK clients by offering proactive accounting and tax advice tailored to their specific business needs. Serve as the primary point of contact for client queries, ensuring timely, professional, and clear communication. Develop strong client relationships by understanding their financial goals and challenges.
Accounting & Tax Compliance:
Prepare and review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns (CT600), VAT returns, and self-assessment tax returns in accordance with HMRC regulations. Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, including FRS 102 and FRS 105. Provide tax planning advice by identifying allowable expenses and tax-saving opportunities. Keep abreast of changes in UK tax legislation and accounting practices to ensure clients remain compliant and informed.
Payroll & Financial Reporting:
Oversee payroll processing to ensure adherence to PAYE and National Insurance requirements. Support clients with financial reporting, management accounts, and cash flow forecasting. Manage pension schemes, auto-enrollment, and other employer-related obligations to maintain compliance.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
Supervise, train, and mentor junior accountants, reviewing their work for accuracy and compliance with relevant standards. Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and automation, particularly through the use of cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
Required Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, ATT, or equivalent UK accounting/tax qualification.
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in UK accounting and taxation.
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, HMRC regulations, and UK tax compliance.
- Proven experience in a client-facing role within an accounting practice.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, TaxCalc, and HMRC portals.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Familiarity with payroll processing and UK employment tax regulations.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
This is a full-time, in-person position located in DHA Phase 2, Islamabad. The office hours are from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
