The Data Science team plays a critical role by leveraging large-scale data to develop AI models that enhance user experiences, optimize decision-making, and boost operational efficiency. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will lead a team of top regional data scientists to tackle complex challenges using advanced machine learning, optimization, deep learning, and reinforcement learning techniques deployed in real-time on Careem’s proprietary AI platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a long-term vision to transform customer acquisition and engagement through data-driven strategies.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to understand user behavior and the broader ecosystem, identify new growth opportunities, and build behavioral models to enhance products.
- Shape and influence machine learning models to optimize product experiences and uncover new business opportunities.
- Provide product leadership by delivering data-backed insights that explain business performance, identify root causes of metric changes, and evaluate experimentation outcomes to guide decision-making.
- Design and implement scalable machine learning algorithms for production environments handling large datasets.
- Lead exploratory data projects to deepen understanding of key phenomena and identify untapped growth and optimization areas.
- Address complex analytical challenges using big data to improve Careem’s products and services.
- Define, monitor, and report on key performance metrics for various projects.
- Design and analyze randomized controlled experiments, communicating findings effectively across teams.
- Continuously challenge existing workflows, explore emerging data processing technologies, and ensure adherence to industry best practices.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Demonstrated experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, big data methodologies, and data transformation for both structured and unstructured data.
- Strong problem-solving skills combined with proficient coding abilities.
- Solid understanding of marketplace dynamics in ride-hailing and delivery services.
- Expertise in A/B testing, classical machine learning, and deep learning techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of recommendation systems, learning to rank, uplift modeling, and matching algorithms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive.
- Experience with database technologies including Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, ChartIO, or Qlik.
- Geospatial data processing skills are considered a plus.
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies.
