The Data Science team is central to this vision, utilizing AI and advanced analytics to enhance user experiences, support decision-making, and boost operational efficiency. As a Senior AI Engineer, you will lead a team of top data science professionals to develop and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning, deep learning, optimization, and reinforcement learning models on Careem’s proprietary AI platform, addressing real-time challenges across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strategic vision to transform customer acquisition and engagement by leveraging data-driven insights.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to understand user behavior and ecosystem dynamics, identifying new opportunities to improve key metrics.
- Build and refine predictive models of user behavior to support product improvements and strategic decisions.
- Influence the design and implementation of data and machine learning models, instrumentation, and analytics to optimize product experiences and uncover growth opportunities.
- Provide product leadership by delivering data-based recommendations, communicating business performance, root causes of metric changes, and experimentation results to guide product and business strategies.
- Implement scalable machine learning algorithms for production environments handling large datasets.
- Lead exploratory projects to deepen understanding of complex phenomena and identify untapped growth and optimization areas.
- Address complex analytic challenges using big data to shape Careem’s products and services.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators for projects.
- Design and execute randomized controlled experiments, analyze outcomes, and communicate findings effectively across teams.
- Continuously evaluate new data processing technologies and ensure adherence to industry best practices, challenging the status quo.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Extensive experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and Big Data techniques.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in coding.
- Deep understanding of marketplace challenges in ride-hailing and delivery services.
- Solid expertise in A/B testing, classical machine learning, and deep learning methods.
- Experience with recommendation systems, learning to rank, uplift modeling, and matching problems.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive.
- Hands-on experience with database technologies including Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Hive, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Familiarity with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, ChartIO, or Qlik.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
