Senior - AI Engineer

NorthBay is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our team in Lahore on a full-time, hybrid basis. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in AI and advanced analytics, with a strong foundation in data processing, predictive modeling, and deploying production-grade AI systems. This role involves hands-on development and scaling of AI solutions that deliver measurable business value. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to understand business challenges, develop intelligent systems, and generate actionable insights. Expertise in modern AI techniques, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and agentic workflows, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of business domains and customer data to inform AI initiatives.
- Build predictive models and reporting systems that support strategic decision-making.
- Write efficient scripts and queries for data extraction, processing, and visualization.
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AI and machine learning solutions in production environments.
- Lead GenAI projects by organizing, testing, and enhancing AI-driven systems.
- Develop and optimize agentic workflows and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) based systems.
- Design and implement forecasting models to improve accuracy significantly.
- Debug and improve AI systems with a focus on reducing hallucinations and increasing reliability.
- Create evaluation frameworks to continuously monitor and enhance AI model performance.
- Research and integrate cutting-edge open-source AI models into existing workflows.
- Train and optimize models across various domains such as object detection, classification, OCR, and statistical modeling.
- Build robust data pipelines and integration architectures to improve system performance and reduce latency.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (BSCS) from a reputable university.
- 4 to 6+ years of professional experience in technology roles.
- 2 to 3+ years of specialized experience in AI and machine learning.
- Strong skills in data processing, structuring, and visualization techniques.
- Proven track record in designing and implementing predictive models.
- Proficiency in Python for production-grade AI development; knowledge of .NET is a plus.
- Advanced SQL skills and experience working with Vector Databases.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver AI solutions in production environments, beyond experimental projects.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Familiarity with agentic workflows, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and prompt engineering.
- Ability to debug complex, non-deterministic AI systems effectively.
- Experience implementing mechanisms to detect and mitigate hallucinations in AI outputs.
- Strong understanding of evaluation frameworks for AI models and prompt tuning.
