Meds IT Nexus is looking for a seasoned Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to join our team as a Senior AR Executive. This role involves managing complex claims, addressing high-priority denials, leading insurance appeals, and ensuring steady cash flow for our US-based clients. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of overseeing the entire AR process, mentoring junior staff, and working closely with management. This is an in-person position based at our Rawalpindi office on Murree Road, operating during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the full accounts receivable lifecycle, with a focus on advanced follow-ups for high-value, aged, or complex unpaid claims. Conduct thorough reviews of patient claims to ensure accuracy, coding compliance, and completeness prior to submission, minimizing billing rejections. Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, underpayments, and complex denials. Prepare and submit formal Level 1 and Level 2 insurance appeals, supported by detailed clinical and billing documentation. Verify insurance payments against contractual discount rates for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers to identify underpayments. Handle secondary and tertiary insurance billing, including escalated inquiries from patients and insurance representatives. Generate comprehensive AR trend analyses, research summaries, and performance reports using Microsoft Excel. Mentor junior billing associates, manage floor escalations, and maintain clear communication with Team Leads and Managers.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years’ experience as a Senior AR Executive within US Medical Billing, including expertise in AR follow-up, denial management, and appeals. Proficiency with major EHR and billing platforms such as AdvancedMD, eClinicalWorks, Kareo/Tebra, Practice Fusion, OfficeAlly, EncoderPro, and various payer portals. Strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, data sorting, and reporting formulas, along with familiarity with web faxing tools and a fast typing speed. In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding, insurance guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial), and prior authorization workflows. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, combined with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
