We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with 5 to 7 years of experience to join our team onsite in Johar Town, Lahore. This role demands full ownership of backend systems, covering architecture, data modeling, performance, scalability, and reliability. The ideal candidate will have strong logical reasoning, mathematical skills, and business acumen to translate complex business requirements into scalable and robust backend solutions. The working hours will align with the US Eastern Time Zone (6 PM to 2 AM), requiring a proactive mindset to anticipate system behavior and identify potential issues before they occur.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend services and APIs.
- Take end-to-end ownership of backend architecture and design decisions.
- Build RESTful APIs and real-time systems using WebSockets.
- Design efficient data models and optimize queries in MongoDB.
- Enhance system performance and scalability using Redis.
- Implement schema validation and ensure data safety with Zod.
- Integrate and manage third-party services such as Twilio and Resend.
- Write clean, maintainable, and predictable code.
- Translate business requirements into precise technical solutions.
- Debug complex production issues by identifying root causes rather than symptoms.
- Conduct code reviews and continuously improve backend code quality.
Required Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of professional backend development experience.
- Expertise in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Deep knowledge of NestJS and experience with Koa.js.
- Strong proficiency in MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Redis and real-time communication using WebSockets.
- Familiarity with schema validation using Zod.
- Solid understanding of backend system design and architecture, including scalability and fault tolerance.
- Proven track record of owning production backend systems.
- Ability to handle edge cases and failure scenarios effectively.
- Strong communication skills and sound decision-making abilities.
- Willingness to work onsite in Lahore during US Eastern Time Zone hours (6 PM to 2 AM).
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and production debugging tools.
- Proficiency in Jest and a strong testing mindset.
- Preference for clarity, correctness, and long-term maintainability in code and design.
- This is a full-time onsite position based in Lahore.
- Competitive salary offered, up to Rs 500,000 per month.
