We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to take a leading role in the development of PayOn, a cloud-based SaaS platform tailored for the HoReCa industry, including hotels, restaurants, and cafés. This platform supports critical business functions such as order management, payment processing, staff operations, reporting, and real-time workflows. Given the nature of the platform, which handles sensitive financial transactions and operational data, the ideal candidate will have a strong focus on building secure, scalable, and reliable backend systems that ensure data integrity and high availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the backend architecture for the PayOn platform.
- Develop secure APIs and services that support order processing, payment handling, staff management, and reporting functionalities.
- Ensure the backend infrastructure is scalable to accommodate growing user demand and transaction volumes.
- Collaborate closely with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features on time.
- Implement robust security measures to protect sensitive financial and operational data.
- Optimize system performance and reliability through monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain comprehensive documentation of backend systems.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging backend technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the platform.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a backend engineer with a strong portfolio of cloud-based SaaS products, preferably in the HoReCa or financial technology sectors.
- Expertise in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or Node.js.
- Deep understanding of database design and management, including experience with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including deployment, scaling, and security best practices.
- Strong knowledge of API design and development, including RESTful and/or GraphQL services.
- Familiarity with secure coding practices and compliance requirements related to financial data.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, version control systems (e.g., Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
