We are looking for a Senior Backend & Machine Learning Engineer to join our early-stage startup focused on developing an AI-powered SaaS platform for real-time investment analysis. In this role, you will work closely with our Technical Lead to build scalable APIs, production-grade machine learning services, and AI-driven investment scoring and recommendation features. This position offers significant ownership, equity, and the opportunity to shape the technical direction of our product from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement scalable REST APIs using FastAPI. Develop and deploy production-ready machine learning models that power investment scoring and recommendation services. Integrate large language model (LLM) APIs such as Anthropic Claude or OpenAI to enhance AI capabilities. Architect and optimize PostgreSQL databases for efficient query performance. Build background processing jobs using Celery and Redis to support asynchronous workflows. Create report generation and analytics services to provide actionable insights. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested backend code. Collaborate effectively with frontend engineers and the Technical Lead to deliver robust and reliable solutions.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of professional backend development experience is essential. Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience deploying machine learning models in production environments. Strong proficiency in Python and the FastAPI framework is required. Experience with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy ORM, along with familiarity with Alembic for database migrations, is expected. Hands-on experience with machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, XGBoost or LightGBM, pandas, and NumPy is necessary. Knowledge of Celery and Redis for background job processing is important. Expertise in REST API design and implementation is required, as well as experience integrating LLM APIs like OpenAI or Anthropic. Proficiency in writing tests using pytest and strong version control skills using Git are also essential.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in real estate or fintech domains is a plus. Familiarity with PostGIS for geospatial data handling and knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker will be advantageous. Experience with ONNX for model interoperability and skills in building ETL/data pipelines are desirable. A background in financial modeling is beneficial. We offer competitive monthly compensation ranging from Rs105,043 to Rs320,780. This role provides the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI and investment technology within a collaborative, in-person work environment. Additionally, there is a significant equity stake and ownership in the company’s technical roadmap.
