We are seeking a skilled Senior Carpenter with extensive experience in furniture carpentry to lead and supervise the production of office tables, workstations, cabinets, storage units, and other custom furniture pieces. The ideal candidate will be proficient in interpreting 2D drawings, cutting lists, BOQs, and precise measurements to ensure high-quality craftsmanship. This role requires hands-on expertise in cutting, drilling, routing, edge finishing, and assembling various materials including MDF, MFC, plywood, veneer, laminate, and solid wood. The Senior Carpenter will oversee the work of junior carpenters, ensure efficient material usage, and maintain strict quality standards throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise carpentry tasks related to office furniture such as tables, workstations, cabinets, and storage units.
- Accurately read and interpret 2D drawings, cutting lists, BOQs, and measurements to guide production.
- Perform precise cutting, drilling, routing, edge finishing, and assembly of furniture components.
- Work proficiently with a variety of materials including MDF, MFC, plywood, veneer, laminate, and solid wood.
- Inspect dimensions and finishing quality before products proceed to assembly or dispatch.
- Provide guidance and daily work allocation to junior carpenters to ensure smooth workflow.
- Minimize material wastage by promoting efficient use of resources.
- Coordinate effectively with the Production Supervisor, Designer, Quality Control (QC), and Assembly teams.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition while adhering to safe working practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fitting, alignment, finishing, and assembly.
- Consistently meet daily production targets and delivery schedules.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a senior carpenter or senior furniture carpenter with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings, cutting lists, and BOQs.
- Skilled in working with a range of materials such as MDF, MFC, plywood, veneer, laminate, and solid wood.
- Excellent craftsmanship with attention to detail in cutting, finishing, and assembly.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring junior carpenters.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple teams including production, design, and quality control.
- Knowledge of safe working practices and tool maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills related to carpentry fitting and finishing.
