We are looking for a Senior CMS Developer with strong full-stack experience in both WordPress and Shopify platforms. The successful candidate will design and develop custom themes, extend platform capabilities through plugins and custom applications, and optimize client websites for performance, scalability, and conversion. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to integrate UX/UI designs into clean, standards-compliant code, while actively maintaining store health and managing third-party integrations.
Key Responsibilities
Architect, develop, and maintain production-ready custom themes and templates from the ground up for WordPress, including Full Site Editing and PHP, as well as Shopify using Liquid, Theme App Extensions, and Sections Everywhere. Develop custom WordPress plugins and integrate third-party APIs, webhooks, and headless endpoints across both platforms. Implement custom checkout and cart logic, subscription workflows, and product bundle solutions by leveraging Shopify Functions and the Storefront API.
Optimize website performance to achieve and maintain excellent Core Web Vitals scores (LCP, CLS, INP) through methods such as code splitting, caching strategies, and asset optimization. Conduct thorough audits to identify and resolve platform-level security vulnerabilities, API rate limits, database bottlenecks (MySQL), and conflicts caused by third-party applications. Manage multi-environment CI/CD deployment pipelines, version control with Git, and staging/production rollouts to ensure minimal downtime.
Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers and technical leads to translate complex Figma prototypes into performant, accessible code that complies with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of three years of hands-on full-stack development experience focused on WordPress and Shopify is essential. Expertise in modern PHP (version 8.x), MySQL, WordPress hooks and filters lifecycle, REST API, and custom post type architecture is required. A deep understanding of Shopify’s modern architecture, including Liquid templating, JSON templates, Shopify CLI 3.x, Theme App Extensions, and GraphQL Admin/Storefront APIs, is necessary.
Advanced front-end skills with vanilla JavaScript (ES6+), modern CSS frameworks such as Tailwind, and build tools like Vite or Webpack are expected. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve Core Web Vitals performance regressions on content-heavy and e-commerce websites is critical. Strong familiarity with headless CMS integrations, REST/GraphQL endpoints, and secure API handling is required. Experience with Git branching workflows, local development environments (Docker, LocalWP, Shopify CLI), and deployment pipelines is also essential.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs. 100,000 to Rs. 130,000. Additional benefits include Provident Fund, annual paid leaves, and annual increments. Working hours are from 9 AM to 6 PM. The role is based in DHA Phase 2, Islamabad, with a hybrid work model requiring three days onsite and two days remote. This setup supports both flexibility and collaboration, with in-person attendance required at the specified location.
This opportunity is ideal for a developer seeking to leverage deep expertise in WordPress and Shopify while contributing to high-impact projects in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
