The Senior Counselor for College Enrollment and Career Readiness at the College of Education and Applied Human Sciences plays a vital role in supporting students through integrated enrollment services and career readiness coaching. This position assists prospective, admitted, and enrolled students by connecting academic programs with career pathways, facilitating enrollment engagement, and delivering comprehensive career preparation. The counselor works closely with students to ensure a smooth transition into college life, providing guidance on university policies, academic resources, and financial aid, while also promoting experiential learning and employer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Enrollment and Yield Support (25%)
Manage the recruitment process using Slate CRM to track interactions and analyze data to improve strategies. Build strong relationships with prospective students, families, and high schools, serving as the main contact throughout the admissions process. Collaborate with the Dual Credit team to develop engaging classroom presentations and involve faculty to increase student buy-in. Support first-year, transfer, and returning students in adjusting to university life by addressing challenges and assisting with navigation of academic and financial aid resources.
Career Coaching and Career Services (25%)
Provide personalized counseling sessions tailored to students’ academic and career goals. Conduct workshops and coaching focused on goal setting, career development, and readiness. Facilitate resume critiques, mock interviews, networking events, and career exploration activities. Offer job search strategies and tools to prepare students for successful employment.
Experiential Learning Promotion (15%)
Promote internships, co-ops, and other experiential learning opportunities. Guide students through researching and applying for these experiences, advising on requirements, and resolving issues. Coordinate with faculty and employers to ensure successful completion and maximize educational benefits.
Employer and Career Platform Engagement (15%)
Develop and maintain relationships with employers and organizations to increase student and alumni employment opportunities. Assist in organizing job fairs and employer events, creating targeted marketing materials to enhance outreach efforts.
College Liaison Role (10%)
Build strong connections with college deans, faculty, and departments to deepen understanding of academic programs, industry connections, and student support services. Collaborate on orientation programming and student success initiatives.
Outreach and Events (10%)
Host virtual and in-person events such as information sessions and workshops to promote academic programs and engage prospective students. Utilize digital platforms for communication and travel to recruitment events, college fairs, and high schools as needed.
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Higher Education, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, or Student Affairs is preferred. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in recruitment, student success, career coaching, counseling, crisis intervention, or academic support services. Experience working with at-risk student populations, retention initiatives, or case management is highly valued. A strong understanding of data-informed recruitment, student development, academic advising, and persistence strategies is essential. Occasional travel and evening/weekend work are required.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
