We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Data Pipeline Architect with 5 to 10 years of experience for a key assignment based in Stockholm. The role focuses on modernizing data pipelines, enhancing data security, and refining technical architecture. The successful candidate will lead the migration of existing data pipelines to comply with stricter encryption, data retention, and user data deletion requirements, including handling historical and derived datasets. This position requires a blend of architectural leadership and hands-on engineering expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and lead the incremental migration of data pipelines, ensuring that existing outputs remain consistent throughout the process.
- Develop and implement sustainable engineering processes covering testing, code reviews, incident management, and release procedures.
- Provide architectural guidance while actively engaging in hands-on development using Airflow, Spark, dbt, BigQuery, and Python.
- Collaborate closely with and mentor a Data Engineer within the team to ensure long-term ownership, reliability, and autonomous maintenance of the migrated pipelines.

- Proven track record of technically leading at least one full data pipeline migration from inception to completion.

- Strong mentoring skills with measurable outcomes in team development.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational qualification.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Familiarity with envelope encryption and key management solutions such as GCP KMS, AEAD functions, or Tink.
- Knowledge of BigQuery column-level security, policy tags, and Data Catalog.
- Experience using Config Connector (KCC) for managing Google Cloud Platform resources via Kubernetes.
- Background in event-driven architectures, particularly with Kafka.
This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on data security and pipeline modernization, contributing to critical compliance and technical improvements. The hybrid working model includes travel requirements, providing a balance between remote and on-site collaboration.
