The Education Counsellor plays a vital role in guiding international students to select institutions that align with their academic and career goals. This position involves providing accurate information about study options, local education systems, cultural and geographic factors, assisting with application documentation, facilitating enrolments, and promoting IDP’s range of products and services. The counsellor ensures students receive personalized support throughout their educational journey, helping them navigate complex processes with confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive the achievement of pipeline goals, customer satisfaction, and advocacy targets at every stage of the student journey. This includes promoting essential student products and services, managing and maintaining leads, ensuring successful applications, identifying referral opportunities, and actively participating in events and lead generation activities. Maintaining an up-to-date and accurate database is also essential.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to students, their families, and education providers throughout the counselling process. This involves engaging in planning activities to enhance student involvement, providing clear and accessible information about admissions, procedures, and qualification options, and maintaining proactive communication with both students and education providers on a regular basis.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in a sales or customer service-driven environment, with a track record of meeting individual and team targets.
- Strong understanding of the education sector, particularly in placing students into Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions and universities, including knowledge of immigration requirements and related processes.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or previous experience working as an Education Counsellor or in a similar advisory role.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with fluency in English both verbally and in writing.
