Senior Front-End Engineer (Vue.js / Nuxt.js)

Datum Labs is seeking an experienced Lead Vue/Nuxt Engineer with over six years of front-end development experience, including at least three years working with Vue 3 and Nuxt in production environments. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building a new Nuxt-based marketing website from the ground up for a US-based client. This project involves replacing a legacy site that has become too complex to automate efficiently. Your initial focus will be to analyze the existing codebase, then establish a clean, maintainable architecture for the new site. The website will generate pages dynamically from an ad-automation pipeline while ensuring fast performance and compliance. While the client’s design team will handle UX, you will lead the delivery process and manage a mid-level engineer.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct a thorough discovery of the legacy codebase and document its current functionality.
- Propose and take ownership of a scalable, maintainable architecture for the new Nuxt site.
- Develop page generation capabilities integrated with an ad-automation pipeline at scale.
- Convert designs provided by the client’s UX team into fully functional production pages.
- Manage Core Web Vitals, SEO strategies, and rendering approaches including SSR, SSG, and hybrid models.
- Implement tag managers, analytics, and call-tracking scripts while optimizing for minimal impact on load times.
- Integrate the client’s compliance requirements into the website from the outset.
- Establish and enforce code quality, testing, and review standards.
- Lead and review the work of a mid-level front-end engineer.
- Collaborate directly with client stakeholders to discuss project scope, trade-offs, and timelines.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 years of front-end development experience, with at least 3 years using Vue 3 and Nuxt in production.
- Proven experience architecting content-heavy or programmatic websites with a large number of generated pages.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices, Core Web Vitals, and various rendering modes (SSR, SSG, hybrid).
- Hands-on experience implementing tag managers, analytics, and call-tracking scripts, with a focus on performance trade-offs.
- Proficiency in TypeScript.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in working directly with client stakeholders.
