We are seeking a seasoned Senior Linux Administrator to oversee, maintain, and enhance our enterprise Linux infrastructure that supports critical telecommunications services. The ideal candidate will specialize in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration and provide Level 2 operational support. This role involves managing OS upgrades, patching, ensuring security compliance, maintaining high availability, and automating tasks using Ansible and shell scripting. The candidate must be adept at troubleshooting complex production issues, guaranteeing service uptime, and comfortable working within a 24/7 rotational shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer, configure, monitor, and optimize RHEL 7/8/9 environments to ensure system stability, performance, and availability.
- Perform OS installations, upgrades, package management, repository configuration, and validate post-upgrade functionality.
- Conduct scheduled and emergency patching, manage vulnerabilities using CVE/RHSA advisories, and maintain patch compliance through Red Hat Satellite.
- Manage Red Hat Pacemaker/PCS clusters, including cluster resources, fencing, failover troubleshooting, and high-availability setups.
- Handle LVM, filesystems, storage allocation, mount points, capacity expansion, and troubleshoot related storage and filesystem issues.
- Administer Linux users, groups, permissions, ACLs, sudo policies, SELinux, SSH hardening, and conduct regular access reviews.
- Configure Linux networking components such as IP addressing, routing, DNS, and Squid Proxy; collaborate with network teams to resolve connectivity issues.
- Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks, inventories, roles, and shell scripts to automate routine administration and configuration tasks.
- Perform incident triage, log analysis, fault isolation, root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to restore and maintain service continuity.
- Support server commissioning, bare-metal provisioning, RAID configurations, firmware updates, iDRAC/iLO management, Kickstart/PXE deployment, and VMware vSphere operations.
- Execute approved changes by preparing implementation and rollback plans, coordinating maintenance windows, and conducting post-change validation.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, server inventories, patching records, audit evidence, and operational runbooks.
- Assist with ManageIQ workflows and provide Linux-level troubleshooting across OpenShift, OpenStack, SAN, and backup environments.
- Participate in 24/7 rotational shifts, weekend coverage, and on-call support to meet operational service level agreements (SLAs).

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years’ hands-on Linux administration experience in enterprise or telecommunications environments, including Level 2+ support and production operations.
- Expert knowledge of RHEL 7/8/9 administration, system troubleshooting, systemd, networking, LVM, OS upgrades, and package management.
- Strong experience with Red Hat Satellite for OS patching, vulnerability remediation, and security compliance.
- Proficiency in Ansible automation, shell scripting, Git, and Ansible Automation Tower.
- Experience managing Red Hat Pacemaker/PCS clustering, high availability, failover troubleshooting, and GFS environments.
- Familiarity with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, server provisioning, RAID, firmware, and hardware management tools.
- Solid understanding of Linux security hardening, SELinux, SSH, CVE remediation, access management, and audit requirements.
- Working knowledge of OpenShift, OpenStack, SAN, backup and recovery, ManageIQ, and monitoring tools such as Splunk and OSQuery.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, incident management, and communication skills, with the ability to perform effectively under pressure in a 24/7 rotational shift environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, or VMware VCP are highly desirable.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, mission-critical environment where your expertise will directly impact service reliability and operational excellence.
