Summary of Position: To supervise the provision of quality care at outpatient and/or inpatient medical services according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values, and universal hygiene standards to improve the health conditions of patients/beneficiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the MAM, coordinate, assess, and supervise the proper functioning of medical activities according to MSF protocols and procedures, ensuring the correct compilation and analysis of medical data regarding patients’ health conditions.
- Coordinate and monitor the daily working plan of medical doctors, anesthetists, gynecologists, and other team members under his/her responsibility.
- Participate in ward rounds in collaboration with MDs, ensuring patients' management is conducted as per protocols and guidelines.
- Participate in the programs/project follow-up, supervise, and ensure that medical activity objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting any problems arising in the service to the technical referent.
- Participate in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e., monthly medical reports, Stirps, medical statistical reports, mortality reviews, rational drugs prescription, etc.).
- Identify non-medical support needs (material, infrastructure, transport, etc.) and report them to the line manager.
- As the staff health lead, ensure proper implementation of the health policy for national staff, manage sick leaves, update new staff, conduct quarterly refresher presentations with support from MedCo, and provide necessary preventive measures for MSF staff, safe structures/working environment, and emergency plans.
- Ensure medical incidents are properly reported as per online MI reporting and policy.
- Have a direct supervisory role over MDs, gynecologists, and anesthetists (check with project organogram).
- Participate in shifts and replace a doctor when there is a gap, as well as replace the MAM in his/her absence.
- Responsible for patients’ referrals, ensuring patients are referred as per referral policy.
- Ensure and conduct morbidity and mortality reviews of the cases in the supported facilities.
