Senior Mobile Developer

The Senior Mobile Developer will play a critical role in designing, developing, integrating, maintaining, and enhancing mobile applications for Android and iOS platforms. This position requires delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance mobile solutions while providing technical leadership to junior developers. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate business and technical requirements into reliable mobile applications that perform seamlessly across various devices and operating systems. The successful candidate will also be responsible for integrating mobile apps with backend services, ensuring offline functionality, and adhering to best practices in mobile security and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance Android applications and modules, taking primary ownership of the Android app architecture and performance optimization.
- Develop and maintain iOS applications, providing support as needed.
- Translate business and technical requirements into reliable and efficient mobile solutions.
- Integrate mobile applications with backend systems, REST APIs, databases, and other enterprise services.
- Develop features supporting offline operation, data synchronization, caching, and intermittent network connectivity.
- Ensure applications perform reliably across different devices, screen sizes, and supported OS versions.
- Hands-on integration with device hardware and sensors such as barcode and QR code scanning/generation, biometric authentication (fingerprint, Face ID/Touch ID, Android Biometric API), GPS/location services, facial recognition/verification, camera/image capture, Bluetooth/BLE, and rugged or field devices.
- Utilize Kotlin, Android SDK, Android Studio, Jetpack, Jetpack Compose, MVVM/Clean Architecture, Coroutines/Flow, Room, Retrofit/OkHttp, and dependency injection frameworks.
- Maintain and enhance existing Android applications, including those developed in Java.
- Apply strong understanding of Android lifecycle, permissions, background processing, local storage, networking, and performance tuning.
- Work with Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit, Xcode, and iOS SDK for iOS app development.
- Conduct unit, integration, UI, functional, regression, performance, and device compatibility testing; develop automated tests using Android/iOS frameworks.
- Diagnose and resolve application crashes, ANRs, memory leaks, performance issues, API failures, synchronization problems, and device-specific bugs using debugging, profiling, crash reporting, and monitoring tools.
- Ensure mobile applications meet quality, security, and performance standards, following OWASP Mobile Security principles and organizational policies.
- Use Git with established branching, pull-request, code-review, and release-management practices; participate in CI/CD pipelines for automated builds, testing, and deployment.
- Manage app builds and releases for Google Play Store and Apple App Store; experience with Firebase is required.
- Document application architecture, technical design, data flow, APIs, configurations, deployment, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with backend developers, QA engineers, UI/UX designers, business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders.
- Perform additional technical or project-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mobile application development.
- Strong expertise in Android development with Kotlin and Android SDK.
- Solid knowledge of Java for maintaining existing Android applications.
- Practical experience in developing and maintaining iOS applications using Swift and iOS SDK.
- Proven experience integrating REST APIs and backend services.
- Hands-on experience with mobile hardware/device integration including barcode, QR code, biometric, GPS, camera, and facial recognition technologies.
- Proficiency in mobile testing, debugging, profiling, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Git/version control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong skills in technical documentation and software architecture.

This position is based in Islamabad and offers a one-year contract with the possibility of extension. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented developer capable of delivering high-quality mobile solutions in a collaborative environment.
