Senior Mobile & Platform Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Mobile & Platform Engineer to join our fully remote, full-time team on a long-term basis. This role involves working across Android and iOS platforms, contributing to our Kotlin Multiplatform architecture, and supporting developers on both platforms. You will play a critical role in connecting mobile development, backend services, databases, and infrastructure to create a reliable development and delivery process. The position requires strong technical expertise, including experience with AI-assisted coding tools and autonomous coding agents, to enhance engineering workflows and knowledge sharing. Depending on your experience, there is potential for technical team leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Support Android and iOS developers with technical decisions, debugging, code reviews, and integration challenges.
- Develop and maintain shared application logic using Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Contribute to native Android and iOS development for platform-specific needs.
- Maintain a clear and consistent architecture across mobile apps, backend services, APIs, and databases.
- Develop and manage backend functionality and server-side integrations.
- Handle database changes, troubleshoot data issues, and ensure reliable migration, backup, and recovery processes.
- Build and improve CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot GitHub runners, including self-hosted runners.
- Enhance build reliability, automated testing, deployment processes, and development environments.
- Manage server-side application deployments, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Establish and promote AI-assisted and agentic coding workflows within the team.
- Review AI-generated code to ensure it is tested, secure, maintainable, and understandable.
- Mentor developers and junior team members in effective use of AI tools through demonstrations and knowledge sharing.
- When appropriate, act as a technical team lead by coordinating dependencies, guiding implementations, reviewing technical decisions, and resolving blockers.

Required Qualifications
- Proven senior-level experience in mobile software development.
- Strong Kotlin and Android development skills, with practical Swift and iOS experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with Kotlin Multiplatform and integrating shared code across platforms.
- Ability to diagnose issues spanning mobile clients, APIs, backend services, databases, and infrastructure.
- Practical backend development experience with a good understanding of API design, authentication, and application security.
- Strong SQL and relational database skills, including schema migrations and performance troubleshooting.
- Hands-on DevOps experience with Linux servers, application deployment, configuration, and operational troubleshooting.
- Excellent knowledge of Git and GitHub workflows, including pull requests, code reviews, and repository configuration.
- Extensive experience with GitHub Actions and managing GitHub runners.
- Substantial experience using AI coding assistants and autonomous coding agents to deliver software.
- Ability to create development workflows that integrate coding agents, automated checks, and human review.
- Clear communication skills, practical documentation abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
- Ability to work independently while constructively supporting other developers.
- Interest in a long-term, full-time role with availability to start promptly after agreement.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Previous experience as a technical lead or senior engineer supporting mobile development teams.
- Familiarity with GPS, BLE, UWB, NFC, or other location and proximity technologies.
- Experience testing mobile applications on real devices and troubleshooting platform-specific behaviors.
- Knowledge of container-based deployment and reproducible development environments.
- Skills in monitoring, incident diagnosis, and maintaining reliable backend services.
- Experience coordinating changes that impact mobile apps, backend APIs, and database structures simultaneously.

This role offers a fully remote work environment with a long-term perspective. Compensation will be based on experience, expertise, and responsibilities. You will have a central role in shaping our architecture, infrastructure, and AI-assisted development workflows. For suitable candidates, there is potential to take on technical leadership of Android and iOS developers, including mentoring and guiding the team’s technical direction while remaining hands-on.
