Senior .NET Backend & Real-Time Systems Engineer

Brain Games Studio is seeking an experienced Senior .NET Backend & Real-Time Systems Engineer to join their Lahore office. This role goes beyond basic CRUD/API development and requires a skilled engineer capable of working with complex systems, maintaining existing or inherited codebases, and handling real-time functionality. The ideal candidate will focus on scalability, production stability, and resolving intricate issues in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain backend systems using C# and modern .NET / .NET Core frameworks.
- Build scalable REST APIs and backend services utilizing ASP.NET Core.
- Implement real-time features using SignalR, WebSockets, or similar technologies.
- Manage real-time synchronization challenges including concurrent user actions, race conditions, state synchronization, duplicate events, and connection lifecycle/reconnection.
- Work on multiplayer systems, chat/messaging platforms, live dashboards, and distributed real-time architectures.
- Investigate and debug complex issues within existing or inherited codebases in both production and development environments.
- Analyze logs, trace problems, identify root causes, and resolve performance, scalability, architectural, and reliability challenges.
- Handle databases, caching mechanisms, authentication, authorization, and third-party integrations.
- Collaborate effectively with frontend, mobile, QA, DevOps teams, and other developers.
- Participate in technical planning and architectural decision-making processes.
- Write clean, maintainable, and production-quality code, taking ownership from investigation through implementation and deployment.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 5 years professional experience with .NET and C#.
- Strong proficiency in C#, modern .NET / .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, Entity Framework Core, Dependency Injection, async/await patterns, background services, authentication, and authorization.
- Hands-on experience with SignalR, WebSockets, real-time event-driven systems, and applications requiring high concurrency.
- Solid SQL skills with SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including expertise in database design, query optimization, indexing, transactions, migrations, concurrency, and ensuring data consistency.
- Familiarity with Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, message queues, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience working with Docker, AWS, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging, load testing, automated and integration testing, and containerized deployments.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining production backend systems, especially complex or high-concurrency applications.
- Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar systems, investigate complex problems, identify root causes and architectural risks, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong independent working skills combined with the ability to collaborate closely within a wider engineering team.
