Senior Nodejs Developer

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to take full ownership of our backend services and the production environment of our application. In this role, you will ensure the reliability of APIs, databases, background jobs, and integrations while supporting the team in delivering safe and efficient changes. You will primarily work with technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js server components, oRPC, Zod, PostgreSQL, Prisma, and Better Auth. Our infrastructure runs on Google Cloud Run, supported by Cloud SQL and Cloud Tasks for database and background processing.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage production application operations, including runtime configuration, feature flags, health checks, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Develop and maintain APIs, shared business logic, and database queries within a monorepo architecture.
- Plan and execute database migrations, investigate data integrity issues, and implement safe, auditable recovery procedures.
- Maintain integrations related to payments, email, storage, AI, and electronic signatures, including webhook handling, retries, and reconciliation.
- Enforce organizational and role-based permissions, protect sensitive data, and maintain audit trails for privileged actions.
- Lead incident diagnosis and remediation efforts, collaborating with DevOps on infrastructure challenges, release readiness, and recovery processes.
- Write comprehensive API, authorization, integration, and unit tests; conduct code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Keep operational runbooks and architectural documentation up to date.

Required Qualifications
- Typically 6+ years of backend engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
- Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and API design in production environments.
- Proven experience operating SaaS applications, diagnosing incidents, and enhancing system reliability.
- Deep understanding of transactions, concurrency, idempotency, schema migrations, and data recovery best practices.
- Experience with authentication, authorization, multi-tenant systems, and secure handling of sensitive information.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or similar managed cloud infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience with Prisma or Drizzle, oRPC, Better Auth, Stripe Connect, background task queues, AI integrations, and monorepo tools like pnpm or Turborepo is a plus.
