Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are developing the Customer Lifetime Orchestrator, an omni-channel marketing and customer engagement platform designed to help banks engage their customers and influence financial behavior. As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will take ownership of quality within this domain alongside the engineering team. This role is highly hands-on, focusing on test design and automation rather than a traditional QA handoff. You will collaborate closely with Product, UX, and full-stack engineers working on web, mobile, backend, and AI-assisted features to embed quality early in the development cycle and scale automation efforts effectively.

Key Responsibilities
Define and execute comprehensive test strategies and plans for each release, considering scope, risks, schedules, and entry/exit criteria. Collaborate with Product teams to co-author acceptance criteria and Gherkin scenarios, serving as the quality gatekeeper before releases. Develop and maintain Playwright-based end-to-end (E2E) web tests that simulate real-world customer journeys across multiple engagement channels. Oversee mobile E2E testing strategies for Android and iOS platforms, utilizing device farms and matrix testing approaches. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, covering smoke, regression, and quality gate tests. Manage test environments leveraging Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm to ensure consistency and scalability. Analyze test results using Grafana or similar tools to enhance feedback loops and improve test effectiveness. Combine automation with exploratory and manual testing to cover edge cases, reduce test flakiness, and optimize parallel execution. Mentor engineers on best practices such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), contract testing, synthetic data usage, and shift-left quality principles. Promote the adoption of AI-assisted testing techniques including test generation, visual regression, and maintenance automation.

Required Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an SDET or hands-on QA professional with a strong automation-first mindset. Proven ability to plan tests and design acceptance criteria in partnership with Product and UX teams. Expertise with Playwright for web testing, Espresso for Android, and XCUITest for iOS platforms. Proficiency in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience in Angular single-page applications, mobile development, and microservices architecture. Skilled in API testing using REST protocols and tools like Postman or RestAssured. Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins, and experience implementing BDD/Gherkin for web and mobile E2E testing. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, along with container orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. Knowledge of device and browser farms such as Sauce Labs or BrowserStack. Strong command of version control (Git/GitHub) and Atlassian tools including Jira and Confluence. Experience in non-functional testing areas including performance, security, accessibility, and localization. Excellent communication skills suitable for collaborating within distributed teams across India, Vietnam, and Europe.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in digital banking, marketing technology, or campaign and engagement management platforms is a plus. Familiarity with performance testing tools such as k6, Gatling, or JMeter is advantageous. Background in SaaS or enterprise software testing environments is desirable. Exposure to AI/ML product testing and tools like XRay, CucumberStudio, SonarCloud, or security testing solutions will be beneficial.
