Senior SQL Server DBA and Infrastructure Engineer - TJ / 1916269

Our client, Blinq Solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator and Infrastructure Engineer based in Karachi. The ideal candidate will have between 6 to 9 years of professional experience managing and optimizing SQL Server environments. This role is critical for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of enterprise-level databases. The position requires a strong command of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, as well as expertise in Windows Server and cloud database management. While this role does not involve direct team management, it demands an individual capable of working independently and collaboratively to maintain essential database infrastructure that supports business operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and maintain enterprise SQL Server databases to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Perform routine and advanced database performance tuning, including T-SQL query optimization, execution plan analysis, and index/statistics optimization.
- Implement and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, along with automated backup and point-in-time recovery processes.
- Monitor database health proactively, identifying and resolving system bottlenecks or failures to minimize downtime.
- Manage comprehensive backup strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups, ensuring reliable data recovery.
- Utilize tools like SQL Server Management Studio and Query Store to monitor query performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.
- Support Windows Server administration tasks related to SQL Server infrastructure, maintaining system security and compliance with best practices.
- Oversee Azure SQL and cloud database environments, including deployment, monitoring, and performance tuning to enable scalable cloud solutions.
- Maintain thorough documentation of database configurations, policies, and procedures to ensure operational transparency and continuity.
- Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to deliver database solutions aligned with business needs and project timelines.
- Troubleshoot database and infrastructure issues promptly, minimizing business impact.
- Stay updated on new SQL Server features, industry trends, and emerging infrastructure technologies to continuously enhance database systems and processes.

Required Qualifications

- 6 to 9 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator and Infrastructure Engineer.
- Deep knowledge of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, backup, and disaster recovery methodologies.
- Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio, Query Store, and execution plan analysis.
- Strong experience with High Availability solutions, particularly Always On Availability Groups.
- Expertise in Windows Server administration related to SQL Server infrastructure.
- Experience managing Azure SQL and cloud-based database environments.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively without direct team management responsibilities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex database and infrastructure issues efficiently.
