Alongside technical tasks, the Digital Protection Officer leads a small team to ensure the application’s performance, security, and continuous enhancement aligns with humanitarian safeguarding principles and international compliance standards. In this role, the candidate manages full lifecycle development efforts including UI/UX optimization, backend infrastructure maintenance, encryption implementation, and compliance adherence. Collaboration with legal and protection teams is essential to translate operational needs into secure and user-friendly digital solutions. The Digital Protection Officer also handles meticulous documentation, conducts security audits, oversees risk mitigation strategies, and regularly reports to project management to uphold the integrity and reliability of the application. With at least three years of experience and leadership responsibility for a dedicated team, this role is key to supporting vulnerable communities through technology-driven protection services.


Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy robust, cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter and Dart to meet organizational goals.
  • Integrate core features such as secure user registration, geolocation verification, interactive service mapping, and real-time support modules.
  • Optimize the application's user interfaces and experiences to be intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly for a diverse population.
  • Monitor application performance continuously to detect, isolate, and promptly resolve bugs, crashes, or performance bottlenecks.
  • Manage backend infrastructure, including server configurations and database systems like Firebase and cloud services, ensuring seamless data synchronization.
  • Ensure compatibility and optimization across multiple mobile operating systems including iOS and Android devices.
  • Implement strict security protocols and encryption standards to safeguard sensitive user data, legal case files, and counseling records.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational data privacy policies, safeguarding guidelines, and international data protection regulations.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify potential cyber threats and apply risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead and supervise a team member, providing technical guidance and ensuring collaboration towards achieving project objectives.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation including clean, well-commented source code, architecture diagrams, and version control records.
  • Collaborate closely with legal aid teams and protection officers to translate field requirements into practical and secure mobile application features.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise technical reports and progress briefings to project management, tracking milestones and system health.
  • Troubleshoot complex code and system architecture issues efficiently using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical team members and management to foster understanding and teamwork.
