Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Professor of Psychiatry to join its academic faculty. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering high-quality psychiatric education and clinical training to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals. This position requires expertise in clinical psychiatry and a strong commitment to advancing mental health research and evidence-based practice within the academic environment. The Assistant Professor will engage in teaching, curriculum development, and interdisciplinary collaboration to foster comprehensive psychiatric education and clinical care. The role does not involve managing a team but emphasizes close cooperation with colleagues across various healthcare disciplines to enhance learning outcomes and patient care. The Assistant Professor of Psychiatry is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments, employing mental health assessment tools, and integrating psychopharmacology and patient counseling into clinical teaching and practice. The ideal candidate utilizes diagnostic interviewing techniques and mental status examinations to ensure accurate diagnoses and appropriate treatment planning. Additionally, the Assistant Professor actively participates in academic research, instructional design, and the use of learning management systems to create an engaging and interactive educational experience. This role is fundamental to nurturing future mental health professionals and contributing to the field through scholarly activities and clinical expertise.
Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lectures, seminars, and clinical teaching sessions in psychiatry to medical students, residents, and healthcare trainees.
  • Develop, update, and implement the psychiatry curriculum and instructional materials in collaboration with academic committees.
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic interviews using standardized mental health assessment tools and Mental Status Examination (MSE).
  • Integrate psychopharmacology knowledge and evidence-based practices into clinical teaching and patient care scenarios.
  • Provide patient counseling and case management guidance to trainees in clinical settings to develop practical skills and empathy.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with other healthcare professionals to enhance holistic mental health education and patient outcomes.
  • Utilize clinical decision support systems to improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning in training environments.
  • Participate in mental health research activities, including study design, data collection, analysis, and publication of findings.
  • Apply instructional design principles and learning management systems (LMS) to create innovative, accessible, and effective educational content.
  • Assess and provide feedback on trainee performance to promote continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatry, mental health research, and educational technologies to maintain an excellent teaching portfolio.
  • Contribute to academic and institutional service, including committee participation and community engagement related to mental health advocacy.
