Key Responsibilities:

Advanced Teaching and Instruction:

  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate advanced lectures, problem-based learning sessions, and laboratory practicals for undergraduate (MBBS/BDS) and postgraduate students (MD/MPhil/FCPS residents) in General Pathology and specialized Histopathology.
  • Lead and innovate in curriculum development and revision for Histopathology courses, integrating the latest advancements and clinical relevance.
  • Supervise, mentor, and assess the clinical and academic progress of postgraduate residents, ensuring their comprehensive training in diagnostic histopathology.
  • Provide expert academic advising and guidance to students and junior faculty.

Specialized Diagnostic Services (Histopathology):

  • Provide expert diagnostic interpretation of complex surgical pathology specimens, including challenging cases, frozen sections, and specialized biopsies.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality and accuracy of grossing, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, molecular pathology techniques, and microscopic diagnosis within the histopathology laboratory.
  • Participate actively in multidisciplinary tumor boards (MDTs) and clinicopathological conferences, offering pathological insights for patient management.
  • Lead and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives within the Histopathology section.

Research and Scholarship:

  • Establish and lead an independent research program in Histopathology or related fields of Pathology.
  • Secure external research funding through competitive grant applications.
  • Publish high-impact, peer-reviewed original research articles in national and international journals.
  • Present scholarly work at major scientific conferences and professional meetings.
  • Mentor junior faculty, residents, and students in research design, execution, data analysis, and scientific writing.

Service and Administration:

  • Serve on departmental, institutional, and university-wide committees (e.g., Curriculum, Assessment, Research Ethics, Hospital Quality Committees).
  • Contribute significantly to the strategic planning, governance, and administrative functions of the Department of Pathology.
  • Participate in professional organizations and contribute to the advancement of Pathology/Histopathology at national and international levels.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain expertise and stay abreast of new technologies and diagnostic criteria.
