Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the library, aligning with the institution's overall goals.
    • Manage and supervise all library operations, including budgeting, staffing, and resource allocation.
    • Develop and implement library policies and procedures.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.
    • Evaluate library services and implement improvements.
  • Collection Development and Management:
    • Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and maintenance of library collections (print and digital).
    • Develop and manage the library's budget for acquisitions.
    • Evaluate and select appropriate library resources and technologies.
    • Ensure the accessibility and preservation of library materials.
  • Information Services and Technology:
    • Promote the use of library resources and services through outreach and instruction.
    • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of library technology systems.
    • Provide leadership in the development of digital library initiatives.
    • Ensure access to electronic resources and databases.
  • User Services and Outreach:
    • Develop and implement user-centered library services.
    • Promote information literacy and research skills through workshops and training.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with faculty, students, and other stakeholders.
    • Engage in community outreach and partnerships.
  • Planning and Assessment:
    • Conduct needs assessments and develop long-range plans for the library.
    • Monitor and evaluate library performance using relevant metrics.
    • Prepare and present reports on library activities and accomplishments.
    • Remain current on best practices in library science.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • Doctoral degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in library administration and management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
  • Proven track record of successful library initiatives.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
