Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, aligning with the institution's mission.
  • Mentor and guide junior faculty members, residents, and fellows in their clinical practice, research endeavors, and professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment that promotes academic inquiry, clinical excellence, and innovation.
  • Actively participate in departmental, institutional, and university-level governance and strategic planning.

Teaching & Curriculum Development

  • Design, develop, and deliver advanced lectures, clinical rotations, and specialized workshops for undergraduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (FCPS, MD, MS) students in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
  • Lead the development, review, and revision of the Obs & Gynae curriculum, ensuring it incorporates the latest evidence-based practices, national guidelines, and global standards.
  • Supervise and rigorously assess the clinical competency and academic progress of postgraduate trainees, preparing them for independent practice.
  • Introduce innovative pedagogical approaches, including simulation, problem-based learning, and interprofessional education, to enhance learning outcomes.

Clinical Practice & Service Excellence

  • Provide expert, comprehensive, and compassionate clinical care to patients across the full spectrum of obstetrics and gynaecology, including complex and high-risk cases.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, participate in specialized clinics, and perform advanced surgical procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure the highest standards of patient safety, quality assurance, and clinical governance within the department.
  • Serve as a clinical role model for all trainees and junior staff, demonstrating professionalism, ethical conduct, and patient-centered care.

Research & Scholarship

  • Establish and lead a distinguished research program in a specialized area of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, contributing significantly to new knowledge.
  • Secure substantial external research funding through competitive national and international grants.
  • Publish extensively in high-impact, peer-reviewed international journals, and present findings at major global conferences.
  • Mentor and supervise postgraduate students and junior faculty in their research projects, fostering a robust research culture.
  • Actively engage in translational research that bridges basic science with clinical application to improve patient outcomes.

Professional & Community Engagement

  • Represent the department and institution at national and international professional bodies, conferences, and policy-making forums.
  • Contribute to the advancement of women's healthcare through leadership roles in professional organizations, guideline development, and public health initiatives.
  • Engage in community outreach and health education programs.
