Contour Software, a subsidiary of Constellation Software Inc., has grown rapidly to over 2,000 employees across three cities within 14 years. As part of a global software conglomerate operating in over 100 countries, Contour offers professionals the opportunity to build long-term careers within a diverse portfolio of market-leading enterprise solutions. The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role is based in Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad and focuses on ensuring the reliability of Jonas Club’s hosted and SaaS environment, primarily built on Microsoft Azure. This position involves defining service-level objectives, leading incident responses, and driving automation and observability efforts to maintain system stability as the hosting migration expands. The SRE works closely with Cloud Operations and DevOps teams, contributing to the Cloud Center of Excellence to standardize reliability practices across Jonas Club and its affiliated companies.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, own, and continuously improve Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for hosted applications, using error budget burn to prioritize engineering and operational efforts.
- Manage the reliability roadmap for hosting workstreams, balancing feature delivery with system stability.
- Design and maintain monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing tools such as Azure Monitor and New Relic to proactively detect and resolve issues.
- Develop dashboards and alerting systems that provide early warnings of reliability degradation.
- Serve as a senior technical escalation point and incident commander during complex, high-severity production incidents.
- Lead post-incident reviews, root cause analyses, and ensure remediation actions are completed.
- Improve on-call rotation and incident response processes within the CloudOps team.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, ARM, or Bicep, and scripting languages.
- Implement self-healing and auto-remediation capabilities to reduce manual interventions.
- Lead capacity planning and performance engineering across hybrid environments including Azure, legacy systems, and data centers.
- Collaborate with CloudOps to validate infrastructure readiness during migrations from on-premises to hosted environments.
- Track and report DORA metrics (deployment frequency, lead time for changes, change failure rate, mean time to recovery) alongside SLIs/SLOs to drive continuous improvement.
- Partner on backup practices and maintain alignment with SOC 2, PCI requirements, and client hosting commitments.
- Contribute to reliability and observability standards within the Cloud Center of Excellence.
- Mentor CloudOps engineers on SRE best practices, incident management, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Minimum six years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Operations, or Infrastructure Engineering with demonstrated ownership of production reliability for SaaS or hosted platforms.
- Proven experience as a senior responder or leader during high-severity production incidents.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure services including compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning in production.
- Advanced skills in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Azure Monitor, New Relic, or Datadog.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and release management, preferably with Azure DevOps.
- Understanding of DORA metrics and SLI/SLO/error-budget frameworks to enhance reliability and delivery.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Experience managing hybrid environments combining data center, legacy on-premises, and cloud infrastructure is a plus.
